Be S.M.A.R.T
Starting to exercise is not an easy task , especially for those who are not active at all . I was one of those people .. I didn't wanna walk from my door to the mailbox ... Shameful I know !! 😁 the best thing to do is to set S.M.A.R.T goals for urself ... Specific .. Measurable .. Attainable .. Reasonable and timely ... Don't take on too much too early .. What works for someone else may not work for you , so take it step by step .. Start off with ligh to moderate cardio and build ur way up !!!
Eat Clean!! Train Mean
Exercise is great but without a healthy diet , your working out is in vain if you are trying to lose and you are only "maintaining" your current weight . It is impossible to work out , eat whatever you want and still lose weight!!! Don't believe the hype !!! Eating clean and daily exercise are the key to successful weight loss and healthier lifestyles ! Like myself , I'm sure you all have tried all forms of fad diets, pills , weight loss doctors , etc . Doing this the weight loss is temporarily effective and once the regimen has stopped , you gain the weight back double and most often times triple . Make a change to a healthier you , change eating habits , not for dieting it short term results , make it a lifestyle change !!
Big May be Beautiful ... But I don't want my Beautiful to be Big
As an African American woman I was always told as I begin to gain extra weight , to embrace my fat and that big is beautiful . I began to believe that , embraced it an continued to pack on the pounds . Not only was this unhealthy but miserable all the same . Don't get me wrong I've never had self esteem issues and I've always been confident , but weight affects all aspects of life whether we admit it or not. Celebrities have fooled viewers for years , one of them being the infamous Comedian Monique . She even came out with a slogan about hating skinny b&@ches and years later she has entered a weight loss journey for better health and wellness . As Women we become complacent with weight and began to accept an embrace it because it is easier to do that than to put plans into action . Now it is important to always be confident in who you are , but being confident also means making sure u are a healthier you and u make sure your temple is taken care of . Ladies lets not continue to embrace fat , but embrace a healthier lifestyle !!!!!
My Journey
I remember it vividly , I was thinking about a New Years resolution on December of 2012 to kick off the start of 2013 . I had tried weight loss on several occasions , but to no avail . I tried fad diets , pills , going to doctors and none of these seemed to work . I started gaining weight after my last child and it was stubborn fat , it would not budge for anything. So on that day in December, I made a vow that I wanted to be healthy and I was not going into a new year unfit , fat , and most importantly unhealthy . I began to make a plan out . I signed up for a gym membership and was determined I was going at least 5 days a week . On January 1 I threw my old eating habits out of the door , and did a total 180 and decided to go straight vegetarian . I started exercising , consisting of spinning , my favorite , ripped (resistance interval training ) and other cardio and most recently running . With that being said over a year and a half I have lost a total of 130 lbs ... Started at 279 , now I'm here at 159 ! Welcome to my world , as I'm here to encourage , motivate and strengthen others on their journey !!!!!
